Richard Hale

Ground Defence Instructor

Richard Hale began Judo at the age of 7 at the RCMP Depot Judo Club in Regina, Saskatchewan. He stayed with the sport for the next 10 years before moving to Nova Scotia.

Richard has fought in 5 Nationals, placing 3rd in Juveniles in 1985. He took wrestling from grade 7 to grade 12, and also fought for one semester for the University of Regina in 1985.  He was absent from judo up until 2008, when he and his 12 year old daughter Jessica started in Greenwood under Charlene Oliver. With Jessica’s love of the sport, they began classes in Bedford at the ATC with Scott Tanner and many other great coaches.

Richard teaches the Ground Defence class that runs Wednesday nights.
